Hey lovelies,
I can’t believe I turn 50 this year.
In 2015, I decided I wanted to start a blog & so, on January 27th in the year 2016, I posted my very 1st blog post – It’s the Most Wonderful Time of the Year, I really can’t believe it’s been 10 years!
Wow, how much has changed over the last 10 years!! I’ve been through so much. My blog started off fairly strong but over the years, it has been very much neglected & I regularly thought about deleting it but something in me just wouldn’t let me do it. I wonder how many people have dealt with that decision??
My posts have been so varied over the years from extremely personal to extremely cringe worthy…honestly, I can’t believe some of the things I’ve posted about.
Here’s some of my favourite posts, for reasons of the experiences, the laughs while producing them or it’s an item that has been useful to me (in no particular order) –
- The glue that holds me together – this post has been recently updated. I will say that since originally making this post, I have become a Christian & try to put God 1st at all times.
- Desert Island Book Tag – Oh my word, I had so much fun doing this post, I really did & I stand by what I said, apart from the fact that I would include my bible for actually most parts of the tag, your bible is food for your soul, your weapon against the evils around you & is a gut wrenching, heart warming, heart breaking, fire burning in your belly story full of truth.
- A weekend in history for my 40th – I included this because I really enjoyed this weekend, I had a laugh & really enjoyed the company of my beautiful family who came.
- A taste for a Smoothie – Berries go Bananas – Here’s another post that I’d forgotten how good the thing is, this smoothie tastes delicious & I’ve not made it in years!
- This product is working fab on my sunburn – Again, I forgot about this product too & I could’ve done with it last year! I’ll have to grab a tub from town before the summer.
- I went to the 80s, 90s & 00s Music Festival – This was one the best experiences of my life & I’m so glad I got to share it with such beautiful women.
- Summer is upon us..! – I did go into the trend of doing seasonal bucket lists & no, I never finished them but I actually never thought I would, I would use them as a prompt for things to do & enjoyed doing them.
- Learn from our BBQing mistakes! – I really need to remember we have this before the BBQ starts this year.
- An amazing breakkie for the colder months – who don’t love porridge on the cold mornings??
- A list of October diaries – Blogtober ~ Week 1, Blogtober ~ Week 2, Blogtober ~ Week 3, Blogtober ~ Week 4 – I don’t celebrate halloween at all anymore, I don’t even do trick or treaters anymore, becoming a Christian opened my eyes to the darkness of halloween & I don’t feel the need to be involved in that or allow it in my home.
- I’m thankful for… – What are you thankful for?
- A list of December diaries – Blogmas ~ Week 1, Blogmas ~ Week 2, Blogmas ~ Week 3, Blogmas ~ Week 4 – lets remember that Jesus IS the reason for the season.
- Works Christmas Party – now this is a works christmas party. I enjoyed the hotel so much, me & Richard spent our wedding night there, in the only room with a balcony, it was lovely & again, the food was delicious.
- Our christmas eve & christmas morning traditions – christmas traditions are something that people share more than you realise.
- Our christmas day lunch – I think I love all my food related posts.
- A little funny – this was something one of my brothers taught me when I was a child.
- If I threw a dinner party & could invite, literally any 12 people I wanted to, here’s who I’d invite & why. – I really enjoyed making this post.
- Blogtober#6 – My fellas Q&A – it’s a fabulous post that my husband happily did with me.
- My path to God – the clues in the title.
- My Baptism journey – The best decision I’ve ever made in my life.
- Why I love & trust my Heavenly Father – I hope this is helpful.
- How God can stop our worry cycle – I really need this right now.
- We can always have hope – to hope in the world is a fools errand.
- Bible verses for anxiety, stress & fear – something else that you may find useful.
Here’s posts that I feel I may have overshared personal information?? –
- I’m finding a whole new meaning for patience!!! – This post…I actually wish I’d never shared this, it’s a post about trying to have a baby…we couldn’t & haven’t become parents.
- I turned 40 last week..! – Well, I was stupid in part & deserved a slap in part! We still need to declutter, although, I think that’s something that should be ongoing in any household. I still need to lose weight & now my body suffers because of it!
- A letter to myself..! – Wow…I think this is a brutal post & one I can’t believe I shared!
- If I could change one thing about myself, THIS, would be it – We all have something we wish we could change, mine is still the same as it was then!
- The pain of wanting a baby – you may find this post disappear one day???
- My sugar addiction was as bad as a drug addiction! – well, time didn’t make any difference because, although my sugar consumption isn’t as bad as it was, it’s definitely bad!
- What you don’t know about me (or maybe you do??? Hehe) – this is another post that I nearly deleted!
- Grief…it’s unforgiving & there’s no way to be prepared – I couldn’t read through this, I just shared it as it was originally posted!
- I’m learning to keep calm! – I felt like I needed to include this because I’ve come along way since writing this post & don’t react this way like I used to.
Here’s some of my more questionable posts –
- My childhood home… – Since becoming a Christian, my opinion about a lot of things have changed, not to mention to thoughts about my childhood home, I don’t think that it was all as bad as I used to.
- *I love to love these things* ~ Part 1 – I can’t believe I posted any of these! I mean…really??! To be honest, I actually feel like deleting every post I’ve ever posted about products, unless they’ve been medically helpful (pain relief etc).
- A Pinterest Addiction ~ Part 1… – I do like pinterest but there was absolutely no reason for me to do numerous posts about it!
I wasn’t planning on doing a post like this but I’m so glad I did because I occasionally will go through my posts to read my favourites & I’ve never managed to get through them all because of having to go through all the post, now I’ll have them in one place.
I hope you have a wonderful week.
Blessings.
Love SarahS Xx
Thank you for this list. I can see why you would find it helpful to post it in this way. It’s a lovely way to reflect on your own journey and it’s really useful for those who you want to share it with. The way you write shows so much of your heart because you write so well and honestly about your struggles. You are a person we can see living with us, some enjoying your friendship in ways that are lovely to see. Being also a person who makes themself known in this blog is a great thing too. Thank you for letting us know you through your words. It’s something very good I think. Reminds me of God who has done exactly the same. I guess we have the added extra of Him dwelling in us, but the number of times I think His Spirit simply has to tell us “I’ve put it all in writing for you to know about that very thing you’re praying about”. He’s not writing about us specifically when He’s telling us about the things He’s made known in writing. Just like you are writing about yourself in situations and events that have happened. And, of course, God’s got loads to tell us about. It’s always impressed me that He’s done the writing He’s done. His purposes are huge, eternal etc etc. But one of those purposes is so that we can get to know Him. That’s such a beautiful thing to find. People who want us to know them. I know we both agree that relationships matter, and I wonder if your blog has in part been inspired by God doing the sort of writing He’s done too.
