Blogpost Ideas, Family

Who would I trade places with for the day and why

Hey lovelies,

I hope you’re having an amazing start to the week.

I’ve read many blogpost list ideas since I started blogging, lots of which were not relevant to me or my cup of tea but when I seen this idea, I knew straight away who it would be, so I had to do this post (the only problem is, I can’t actually remember whos’ list this belonged to).

The person I’d trade places with for a day is –

  • My niece, Tallie (Natalie).

    bty

    ~ Me & Tallie ~

Here’s my reasons why –

  • She’s one of the strongest people I have ever had the pleasure of knowing
  • She’s a mother & makes it look so easy & so much fun
  • She has the ability to let you know when she’s pissed off with you, with just one look, I’ve had that look on more than one occasion & immediately thought “why did I say/do that?”, honestly, I wanted the ground to just open up & swallow me (I’m so sorry for the times I received that look). She doesn’t need to argue with you & she doesn’t like to.
  • She loves love, happiness & smiles, she oozes them & has plenty to go around.
  • She’s so girlie, I love it.
  • She has the ability to light up a room upon immediate entry & no matter your mood, always manages to make you smile.
  • She gives her life to her children & has such a busy mum schedule but still finds time to make you welcome into her home, she would greet you at her door no matter the time of day with a smile & an offer of a hot beverage.
  • She puts me in mind of a swan, when you observe her, she glides by gracefully but underneath it all, her inner ‘legs’ must be going like the clappers. Hehe.
  • I’ve never known anyone like her.

The tag words I’ve attached to this post are just some of the words I would associate with Tallie.

I’m proud beyond words to call her my niece & wish I seen her more than I do.

Love you lots Tallie.

I do have more of an unrealistic pick –

Kate Middleton –

I would love to know if she’s able to live a remotely normal life with her family & how they all interact (here’s a thought for you, William & Harry remind me of Stefan & Damon in Vampire Diaries! William’s Stefan, more stable & Harry’s Damon, seems to like danger & take more risks. Hehe).

I hope you have an amazing week.

Bye for now.

Autumn Bucket List

Hi lovelies,

I don’t actually know anyone else who does a seasonal bucket list apart from YouTubers I watch but I bet loads of people I know have one, they just don’t realise it, you know those times when you think to yourself – over Autumn I want to make apple pie, go apple bobbing, watch fireworks, drink hot chocolate in front of an open fire, bbq or bonfire? Well, that’s a bucket list.

Here’s my Autumn bucket list –

  1. Celebrate Richards birthday
  2. Watch some fireworks
  3. Go to Loughborough fair
  4. Toast marshmallows
  5. Book my works christmas party
  6. Keep a little blog diary on occasion over Autumn
  7. Get all snuggly with fleece pjs & a cup of something hot & tasty (usually coffee or chocolate related)
  8. Watch Hocus Pocus
  9. Watch Practical Magic
  10. Have a girls film night
  11. Eat Autumn inspired food
  12. Make my favourite soups – roasted parsnip & pumpkin & farmhouse veg soup (out of my latest fav cookbook – Eat Smart by 1 of my fave youtubers Niomi Smart
  13. Make chicken stew
  14. Do some Autumn baking
  15. Watch some haunting documentaries
  16. Attempt to watch a scary (ish) film
  17. Buy halloween sweets for the trick or treaters, along with something for a few tricks
  18. Maybe dress up & go trick or treating with the family
  19. Bring a little Autumn indoors
  20. Go walking at the weekend with Richard
  21. Make a list of christmas pressies & go christmas pressie shopping
  22. Write christmas cards
  23. Walk through the Autumn leaves
  24. Set up for doing Blogmas (I don’t even mind if it’s as simple as last years – Blogmas ~ Week 1).
  25. Do a thankful list
  26. Eat some porridge (I’ve not had porridge for ages)
  27. Get excited for Vlogmas (hehe)
  28. Sort out saving stamps & christmas vouchers for christmas food & drink shopping at Morrisons & Tesco
  29. Sort out christmas menu
  30. Plan & book in a family christmas party

So then, that’s my Autumn bucket list, there’s some real exciting things on there & some stuff that will make the up coming seasons a lot easier for me.

A few of these things will go together, so although it may look like a mammoth list, I’ll be able to do a few of these things together, for example – making soup & stew can be combined with eating Autumn inspired food or walking with Richard can be combined with walking through leaves & so on & so on.

Keep Calm & Love Autumn

~ NOTE TO SELF: Print this out & put it on the fridge Sarah! ~

I hope you have a fabulous weekend.

Bye for now.

Blogtober ~ Halloween Fun

Did you think I’d forgotten about the last few days of Blogtober?? Nope, I wanted to add it in by itself because it’s Halloween.

Sunday the 30th –

After dad brought those Halloween deckies yesterday, I was going to take most of them to work to deck work out but remembered that I was on the later shift so just decided to take a couple to work & put the majority of them up at home in our hallway so they’d be seen when I open the front door to the trick or treaters……………………………………..

cof

Me & Richard carved a pumpkin today, ready for me to take to work tomorrow……………………………….

1-drawing-on-the-designs

Drawing on the pumpkins what needed cutting out wasn’t the easiest thing, I’m not the best at drawing. Hehe.

3-carving

The carving was very fun, it was my 1st time pumpkin carving & I’m definitely doing it again next year.

2-de-seeding

Richard showed me an easier way of gutting a pumpkin, this way was so much easier than the way I was TRYING to do it.

If you hold a table-spoon (not plastic & without a plastic handle) at the bottom of the handle, you can get a better grip to help with scooping out of the pumpkin guts. Richard, you’re a genius, that made it so much easier for me.

Our finished pumpkins……………………………

Not bad for my 1st attempt!

You have to check out carved pumpkins in the dark…………………….

11-the-end-result

We also did ginger cookie decorating (hehe)………………………………………………

Here’s 3 attempts – I just decided to cover mine! Hehe…………………………………

All finished, I loved doing this with Richard…………………………….

18-all-done

17-richard-told-me-to-hold-out-my-hand-done-this

While cookie decorating, Richard says to me “give me your finger” & then he did this! Hehe.

I really do love the fact that Richard’s so up for anything, I’m one of those annoying people who want to completely embrace Autumn & Winter, along with everything that comes with those seasons (even if I’m not always able to) & Richard just gets stuck in, we both had a right laugh today.

~ IT’S HALLOWEEEEEEEEEN ~

My tree is looking rather sorry for itself this week…………………………………

sdr

It amazes me how much it’s changed over the month of October.

cof

What I decided to take to work.

cof

I made a bit of a mess with my make-up! Hehe. (I have got the weirdest chin in the world!).

Hehe……………………………………………….

Thinking maybe I should have worn my hair down all day – definitely scarier!

Richard started my pumpkin soup for me today, the recipe I usually use, is a weight watchers & the website was down, so I had to use a different one & it wasn’t very nice. Next time, I’m going to have to keep a record of it so I don’t have to keep using the websites!

bty

Bye October, I’ll miss you, see you next year. Xxxx

What I learned this week…………………………..

  • Be more organised with the cooking
  • Get a pic of my nieces & nephews in their Halloween costumes when they come trick or treating – they won’t be young enough to go halloweening (yes, that’s a word as far as I’m concerned) forever!
  • Try & get the early shift at work next year!
  • Go back to my previous years sweetie choices & start including healthy goodies in the bags too.

I hope you had an amazing Halloween.

Bye for now.

Seasons, Time Of Year

I love Halloween so much!

HALLOWEEN……………………..Oh my, just hearing or saying that word when the season is near fills me with such happiness!

What do I love about Halloween? Wow, where do I begin???…………………………..

I love everything about Halloween, the suspense of it, the effort the trick or treaters make (well, most of them), I love seeing my nieces & nephews at Halloween in their costumes, it makes me very happy……………………………

one-of-nephews-ready-for-my-brothers-30th

One of my nephews ready for my brother 30th.

One year, I’d love to go trick or treating with my nieces & nephews, just to dress up & go around with them & soak up the atmosphere, how fab would it be if we could get all of them to go together?! However, I don’t know how Richard would feel treating the trick or treaters that come to our door all night cause they’d still have to be supplied! I really do love to spoil the trick or treaters, I get lots of treats in for them.

I really don’t like the trick or treaters who just put on a mask & expect to look like they’ve made an effort………………sorry to tell ya but you haven’t & it’s OBVIOUS! At least put on a costume with it!

My brother was born on Halloween & we had a Halloween party for his 30th……………………

I really do love this pic of my brother, I thought it really looked the part!

I love the pagan association of All Hallows Eve (although, if someone asked me about it, I wouldn’t feel comfortable enough in having the knowledge to give them a fully appreciative answer).

The fact people always associate ghosts with it.

I love watching Most Haunted Live (when it’s on).

Carved pumpkins……………………….

richards-2015-carved-pumpkin

Richards attempt at carving a pumpkin last year.

My perfect Halloween would be to completely decorate my house, dress up & throw a Halloween party, even inviting the trick or treaters that come with adults in for a little homemade roasted parsnip & pumpkin soup, maybe a game of apple bobbing or a ghost hunt (of sorts) & a glass of something slimy or warming! Hehe.

It’s a shame we don’t all do Halloween at work, I reckon it would look amazing if everywhere was decked out for Halloween, I tell ya, if I owned my own business, it would be covered in Halloween deckies & pumpkins (carved & uncarved), I did do a bit (& it was a little bit too) last year………………………

dressed-up-for-halloween-2015-over-the-road

I dressed up a bit at work last year, this was taken in a café that’s across the road from where I work, she always went to town & was dressed up as Cruella Deville last year.

It’s funny really, parents spend so much time telling their younglings not to take things from strangers & then on Halloween, they’re allowed to fill their boots (so to speak)! Hehe.

What’s your favourite thing about Halloween?

My Autumn Essentials

When Autumn comes around, I get giddy with excitement.

I find myself wanting to burn candles & all year before that, burning one never enters my head.

My favourite bodyspray for this time of year, I absolutely love this scent. A blog post for you – My Autumn Scent…………………………………..

so-for-me

I definitely need lipsyl during these colder months, I use it all year round but the wind makes me feel that I need it more. A blog post for you – New lip balm love…………………………

Burts Bees Lip Balm

I wear a lot of hand cream in the warmer months but even more so in the colder months, I currently have 4 on the go – 1 at work (Avon), 1 in my handbag (Neutrogena), 1 on my bedside table (Wilko Rhubarb & Custard – smells amazingly sweet) & 1 on the table next to the sofa (Soap & Glory Hand Food)…………………………………

my-hand-creams

I tend to suffer more with pain in the colder months & I don’t fancy spending the whole of Autumn popping pain killers, so this is a definite must for me (note to self – you need to buy a new one soon). A blog post for you – Still loving Aloe Heat Lotion…………………………

100_1440

Porridge for the colder months, here’s how I make mine. A blog post for you – An amazing breakkie for the colder months………………….………….

finished-porridge

I love a proper coffee but for some reason, tend to drink more of them in the colder months, I don’t know why, I love a cinnamon stix coffee, made with cream & 2 tsp brown sugar (delish)…………………………

decaff-christmas-coffee-cinnamon-stix-coffee-gingerbread-coffee-proper-ground-bean-coffee

I want to wear skirts with tights & I love the thought of wearing boots with them, except I need a new pair of boots! Hehe………………………………

skirt-with-tights

As soon as it gets remotely colder, I break out the scarves & shawls, I do have a hefty coat but I find that even on the colder mornings, by the time I get to work, I’m sweating, so I tend to only wear that if it’s freezing &/or raining!

I love to wear a shawl/big ass scarf instead of a my hefty coat……………………..

Lovely warm fleecy ANYTHING………………….

Comfy Cozy is the 2nd blog post I posted on my blog back in January & it’s about a few of my favourite things, including those fleecy pj bottoms.

I love a nice hot bath when it’s cold outside, especially a Lush bath (using Lush products), I’ve always got something to read but on occasion, I like to burn candles & take a glass of wine with me.

Halloween sweeties for the trick or treaters is most definitely an essential, I think if there was ever a year that we wasn’t here or I decided not to get any, they’d all be shocked! Hehe. Which, I suppose is a good thing. I do love the trick or treaters that make a proper effort.

Bye for now.
