What I thought of my December 2016 Birchbox & freebie.

We all like presents but we don’t tend to buy them for ourselves! For christmas 2016 I decided to buy myself a couple of christmas presents, one of them being the December Birchbox.

For those who don’t know what Birchbox is, it’s an online shop, selling beauty products, it has a monthly delivery service that gives you the opportunity to try high-end beauty products without shedding out the full retail prices, some come in full sizes & some in travel or sample sizes. There’s no commitment & once you’ve signed up you can cancel the service at any time.

The outer packaging –

It even came looking like I could have put it straight under my christmas tree.

I do love fab packaging –

The box itself felt very smooth & to open the box, I just had to pull the top of the box off, it was satisfyingly easy to pull it off with the air suction. Hehe.

This is what was inside my box & what I thought of them –

The Elemis Hydra-Boost day cream was a 15ml size & I didn’t get on with it, it felt smooth going on & felt nice on the skin initially but even though it says it’s for dry skin, I found that it made my skin feel drier than it usually does!

Anatomicals, smoother butts love coconuts – coconut & mango body lotion smells delicious & feels amazing, it makes my skin feel wonderfully smooth. Also, it doesn’t linger, it soaks in quick.

The benefit benetint, lip & cheek stain – It was easy to use but a warning for you, it’s very runny. It gave a lovely flush of colour, the deepness of the colour initially scared me but actually, it doesn’t go on dark at all & the colour is buildable (the more you put on, the darker it gets). The bottle is a sample size but it goes along way. I really enjoy this product.

I haven’t managed to try out the Ciate London Fierce Flicks eye liner yet because, quite frankly, it scares me, yes, I know how stupid that sounds but it does, it’s so smooth, pigmented & the nib is so perfectly pointed that I’m worried I’ll either get it all over my eyes or poke myself in the eye trying to apply it! I thought it was really strange how something that looks like you could colour a picture with is actually an eye liner!

I’ve only managed to try the Percy & Reed Hair Perfectly Perfecting Wonder Balm once & although it felt amazing, was easy to use & left my hair looking fab, I really don’t feel that once is at all enough to give a full review for anything!

This Smith & Cult lip gloss was my freebie (with a christmas FB code) & is a gorgeous colour with a weird name (The Warning). It goes on easy but I strongly recommend you use a clear lip liner as it bleeds. You obviously need to reapply it throughout the day & as it wears off, it does go patchy & sinks into all the little lines in your lips. Even taking all the little down sides into account, I really like it & it’s in my handbag. It does feel amazing on your lips & doesn’t feel sticky icky like a lot of other lip glosses do.

I took this wearing the lip gloss, benetint & hair wonder balm. When I came to edit my photos, I put a filter on this one & afterwards, realised that I should have done a clear copy 1st! Soz.

This is from the about page on the Birchbox website – Birchbox –

What is Birchbox?

When Birchbox founders Katia and Hayley first met, they had wildly different approaches to beauty. Hayley was a self-proclaimed novice, while Katia was a connoisseur. But they agreed on one thing: Shopping for products was frustrating, inefficient, and confusing. How were customers supposed to navigate the vast range of options? And in the growing online market, how could they try products without buying them all (and going bankrupt in the process)?

That’s when Birchbox was born: the brainchild of two friends with a love of the internet and an itch to create a better way to shop for beauty products.

Katia and Hayley envisioned a way for customers—just like themselves—to easily and efficiently try, learn about, and purchase beauty products online. They combined monthly deliveries of personalized samples with original editorial and an exciting e-commerce shop. It was easy, efficient, and fun—a monthly delivery of surprise and delight.

We keep that top of mind every single day.

It is so easy to sign up, you put in your details & you can even tailor make your subscription by answering questions like what skin type you have. I really enjoyed how I could personalise my subscription.

So far, I would repurchase the benefit benetint & the lip gloss.

I hope you find this useful.

Bye for now.
