Blogpost Ideas, Family

Who would I trade places with for the day and why

Hey lovelies,

I hope you’re having an amazing start to the week.

I’ve read many blogpost list ideas since I started blogging, lots of which were not relevant to me or my cup of tea but when I seen this idea, I knew straight away who it would be, so I had to do this post (the only problem is, I can’t actually remember whos’ list this belonged to).

The person I’d trade places with for a day is –

  • My niece, Tallie (Natalie).

    ~ Me & Tallie ~

Here’s my reasons why –

  • She’s one of the strongest people I have ever had the pleasure of knowing
  • She’s a mother & makes it look so easy & so much fun
  • She has the ability to let you know when she’s pissed off with you, with just one look, I’ve had that look on more than one occasion & immediately thought “why did I say/do that?”, honestly, I wanted the ground to just open up & swallow me (I’m so sorry for the times I received that look). She doesn’t need to argue with you & she doesn’t like to.
  • She loves love, happiness & smiles, she oozes them & has plenty to go around.
  • She’s so girlie, I love it.
  • She has the ability to light up a room upon immediate entry & no matter your mood, always manages to make you smile.
  • She gives her life to her children & has such a busy mum schedule but still finds time to make you welcome into her home, she would greet you at her door no matter the time of day with a smile & an offer of a hot beverage.
  • She puts me in mind of a swan, when you observe her, she glides by gracefully but underneath it all, her inner ‘legs’ must be going like the clappers. Hehe.
  • I’ve never known anyone like her.

The tag words I’ve attached to this post are just some of the words I would associate with Tallie.

I’m proud beyond words to call her my niece & wish I seen her more than I do.

Love you lots Tallie.

I do have more of an unrealistic pick –

Kate Middleton –

I would love to know if she’s able to live a remotely normal life with her family & how they all interact (here’s a thought for you, William & Harry remind me of Stefan & Damon in Vampire Diaries! William’s Stefan, more stable & Harry’s Damon, seems to like danger & take more risks. Hehe).

I hope you have an amazing week.

Bye for now.

My 2016 new finds, old faves & highlights

Yeah yeah, I know 2016 is rapidly becoming a distant memory for most of us but before it completely disappears from our thoughts, I wanted to go through some of the things I loved last year, some are new finds & some are old faves. I wanted to add in some highlights from 2016 that I failed to mention in one of my last blog posts – 2016 ~ Worst & Best

I’m very much a visual person, so this post is going to be mainly in photos but I’ll be adding links that contain everything I’ll mention for you to have a nosy through.

In no particular order, here we go –

Toiletries etc –

In 2016 I had a new love for the bath bomb, the others I feel are definitely old faves. The Wilko hand wash really does smell like rhubarb & custard & that So…? For Me body spray – OH MY WORD!!!

Here’s a few posts for you to check out with either my thoughts about the products or their website –

Beauty –

I really enjoyed wearing a dark lip for the 1st time in 2016, I was always to worried I was too old to wear a dark bold lip colour but now, I don’t care, I really enjoy wearing it! I fell in love with that nail colour the 1st time I wore it & I’ve decided that I’m going to wear nail varnish more often. I only found the lip gloss in December 2016 but I’ve worn it lots since then.

I like all 4 but this one’s my favourite!

Yum Yums –

I feel like 2016 was a good year for finding new flavours & food/drink for me.

If you’re lactose intolerant like me, you’ll know just how frustrating it is when you want something but can’t cause it contains milk products or when they don’t contain milk products, they contain a soya product which I’m trying to stay away from because  it’s reported that soya can interrupt your hormone function & that’s the last thing I need! I finally found a lactose free custard that doesn’t contain soya. Yay! I found a new love for porridge & I love coconut yoghurt with berries, granola & honey. I also found some new glorious flavoured coffees in 2016 – a brand called LITTLES make some amazing flavoured coffee, the chocolate orange one is amazing. For Christmas, I got us both a Jelly Belly bean advent calendar & loved it (everyday a different flavour, nom nom). I fell in love with fruit smoothies in the warmer months & that’s one of the reasons I can’t wait for spring & summer. Tea pigs Winter Spiced tea is deliciously Christmassy. I love any excuse for a BBQ but I much prefer the coal cooked method, definitely my best way to cook – well, eat food! Hehe. I don’t actually do the cooking on the BBQ, Richard does that. I tried tacos (well, soft tacos) for the 1st time in 2016 too & enjoyed them.

Fun Stuff –

I absolutely love Yankee candles. Last year was the 1st time me & Richard did pumpkin carving together, we had a right laugh! Hehe. Loved the photo booth we had for our works dept. christmas party. I’m loving the new book Richard got me for christmas. I loved doing the Disney advent calendar for Richard, I wrote a little note in each day, some were notes of love & some were activities.

These made my life so much easier in 2016 –

The aloe heat lotion is amazing for aches & pains, honestly, it isn’t just another fad product, it genuinely works wonders, obviously, it’s not going to cure your arthritis but it’ll definitely ease the pain you’re in. I went to a festival in August & burnt my face a little & my lips (which I’ve never done before), the aqueous cream & aloe lips were amazing for my sunburn! Burt’s bees lip balm is my new fave lip balm (however, not the best to have in hotter sun than you’re used to). My new phone, wow, where do I start with this one?? My old phone, which was an older version of the Huawei was soooooo bad by the time I’d got my new one, I wanted to smash the old one! Hehe. (I still need to do a full review on my new phone but trust me, it’s amazing). We use our food warmer for every party, BBQ, gathering, family lunch or dinner we have, it’s saved my life so many times because I’m so rubbish when it comes to cooking timings!

Here’s a few posts for you to check out with a little more info about the products –

Still loving Aloe Heat Lotion

Blogtober ~ Week 4 is when I got my phone – linked above. A website for you – The Huawei P9

I really need sunburn relief right now

Our christmas day lunch – Food Warmer from Ebay

Things that made me smile –

I loved our christmas tree last year, it was our best yet in my opinion, although Richard missed the tinsel! The santa mugs were a pressie from a friend at work for me & Richard. The basket with the Yankee products in was a pressie from my best friend for me & now I use the basket for all my Yankee stuff! “My” tree is on campus, I see it every day on my way to work & I love seeing it change through the seasons – my Blogtober posts see it change throughout the whole of October.

A little note – you know, I was convinced that 2016 had been a really bad year but actually, I don’t think it was all that bad, I started this blog in February 2016 & doing this blog has enabled me to look back on the year with much more positivity & with a smile.

I hope you had an amazing 2016.

Bye for now.

Birchbox, Review

What I thought of my December 2016 Birchbox & freebie.

We all like presents but we don’t tend to buy them for ourselves! For christmas 2016 I decided to buy myself a couple of christmas presents, one of them being the December Birchbox.

For those who don’t know what Birchbox is, it’s an online shop, selling beauty products, it has a monthly delivery service that gives you the opportunity to try high-end beauty products without shedding out the full retail prices, some come in full sizes & some in travel or sample sizes. There’s no commitment & once you’ve signed up you can cancel the service at any time.

The outer packaging –

It even came looking like I could have put it straight under my christmas tree.

I do love fab packaging –

The box itself felt very smooth & to open the box, I just had to pull the top of the box off, it was satisfyingly easy to pull it off with the air suction. Hehe.

This is what was inside my box & what I thought of them –

The Elemis Hydra-Boost day cream was a 15ml size & I didn’t get on with it, it felt smooth going on & felt nice on the skin initially but even though it says it’s for dry skin, I found that it made my skin feel drier than it usually does!

Anatomicals, smoother butts love coconuts – coconut & mango body lotion smells delicious & feels amazing, it makes my skin feel wonderfully smooth. Also, it doesn’t linger, it soaks in quick.

The benefit benetint, lip & cheek stain – It was easy to use but a warning for you, it’s very runny. It gave a lovely flush of colour, the deepness of the colour initially scared me but actually, it doesn’t go on dark at all & the colour is buildable (the more you put on, the darker it gets). The bottle is a sample size but it goes along way. I really enjoy this product.

I haven’t managed to try out the Ciate London Fierce Flicks eye liner yet because, quite frankly, it scares me, yes, I know how stupid that sounds but it does, it’s so smooth, pigmented & the nib is so perfectly pointed that I’m worried I’ll either get it all over my eyes or poke myself in the eye trying to apply it! I thought it was really strange how something that looks like you could colour a picture with is actually an eye liner!

I’ve only managed to try the Percy & Reed Hair Perfectly Perfecting Wonder Balm once & although it felt amazing, was easy to use & left my hair looking fab, I really don’t feel that once is at all enough to give a full review for anything!

This Smith & Cult lip gloss was my freebie (with a christmas FB code) & is a gorgeous colour with a weird name (The Warning). It goes on easy but I strongly recommend you use a clear lip liner as it bleeds. You obviously need to reapply it throughout the day & as it wears off, it does go patchy & sinks into all the little lines in your lips. Even taking all the little down sides into account, I really like it & it’s in my handbag. It does feel amazing on your lips & doesn’t feel sticky icky like a lot of other lip glosses do.

I took this wearing the lip gloss, benetint & hair wonder balm. When I came to edit my photos, I put a filter on this one & afterwards, realised that I should have done a clear copy 1st! Soz.

This is from the about page on the Birchbox website – Birchbox –

What is Birchbox?

When Birchbox founders Katia and Hayley first met, they had wildly different approaches to beauty. Hayley was a self-proclaimed novice, while Katia was a connoisseur. But they agreed on one thing: Shopping for products was frustrating, inefficient, and confusing. How were customers supposed to navigate the vast range of options? And in the growing online market, how could they try products without buying them all (and going bankrupt in the process)?

That’s when Birchbox was born: the brainchild of two friends with a love of the internet and an itch to create a better way to shop for beauty products.

Katia and Hayley envisioned a way for customers—just like themselves—to easily and efficiently try, learn about, and purchase beauty products online. They combined monthly deliveries of personalized samples with original editorial and an exciting e-commerce shop. It was easy, efficient, and fun—a monthly delivery of surprise and delight.

We keep that top of mind every single day.

It is so easy to sign up, you put in your details & you can even tailor make your subscription by answering questions like what skin type you have. I really enjoyed how I could personalise my subscription.

So far, I would repurchase the benefit benetint & the lip gloss.

I hope you find this useful.

Bye for now.
